Frequently asked questions

What is the CRS score?
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system IRCC uses to rank Express Entry candidates. Points are awarded for age, education, official language ability, Canadian work experience, and other factors. Higher scores improve your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
What is a good CRS score in 2026?
Draw cutoffs in early 2026 have ranged from 491 to 547 for general draws. Category-based draws (healthcare, STEM, French speakers) often have different cutoffs. A score above 500 is generally competitive for all-program draws, but this fluctuates depending on the pool size and IRCC's intake targets.
Can I improve my CRS score?
Yes. The most effective strategies include: improving language test scores (CLB 10+ gives maximum points), completing a Canadian Master's or PhD program, gaining additional Canadian work experience, or obtaining a provincial nomination (which adds 600 points). A licensed RCIC can review your profile and identify the best path forward.
Is this calculator official?
No. This is an educational tool that approximates your CRS score based on publicly available IRCC criteria. For an official score, create a profile in the Government of Canada's Express Entry system at canada.ca.
